Discussion board activity
Students were required to participate in online class discussions (Canvas discussion board) after reading the required material. The discussion board provided time for students to reflect, share ideas, learn through observing and interact with peers. short responses such as “yes, I agree.” was not an acceptable post and did not earn any points. Posts were graded on student’s overall participation in that discussion thread.

Challenges associated with this type of online assessment:
- Students generally enjoy engaging with the discussion board activity, however some prefer assessment that directly link the to the text book content.
