Context: Postgraduate, Management, Large class (100-249), weighting 30%, rubric provided.

Within small groups, each week students respond to their choice of question related to the week’s learning outcomes and then respond to at least 2 posts from other students. This builds self-reflective skills, literature searching, citation and referencing skills, understanding and integration of course concepts, and social connection with other students.

Challenges in this type of online assessment include:

  • The English language proficiency of students
  • Encouraging student buy-in to the activity at the start of semester
  • Need to provide adequate training and support to teachers
